Le Puy-en-Velay's most striking attraction is the Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy (12C) which is Unesco World Heritage listed. Three miles from Le Puy are the ruins of the Château de Polignac one of the most important feudal strongholds. There are a number of churches sitting atop volcanic plugs in the area.
