How to get there: Driving: 236 Km north west from Paris, 226 km east from London.  Fly into Lille, 49km away, or arrive by 2-hour train from Paris to Berguette-Isbergues, then 15 minute taxi.

Description : The nineteenth century mansion (1850) was renovated with care and passion in the summer of 2012. The original character of the building has been carefully preserved. Huge tall windows, great big doors and a checker-tiled hall are original touches still on show in this small château. Expect textured wallpapers, swish showers, hotel standards and heaps of space.
Room types 5 spacious guestrooms in which you can opt for one double bed or twin beds. Each room has a flat screen TV and its own bathroom with shower and toilet facilities. Coffee and tea making facilities are available. There is no elevator to the first floor. Free WiFi is available.

Things to do: Between the mounts of Flanders and the hills of Artois, the heritage site of Aire sur la Lys has a historical town centre with a rich building heritage. A visit to Ypres is highly recommended, especially to the Menin Gate which commemorates World War 1 and the many Australians that died in battles in this area. The St Omer and other war cemeteries are also close by.
Restaurants: Your hosts will advise you of the numerous restaurant options nearby.  The Château also offers a refined table d’hôte (at 29 euro/pp) with carefully prepared dishes served in the elegant green and gold dining room. Dinner might feature local watercress, colourful St Omer cauliflowers or veal with mustard, cooked by Francis who speaks seven languages, including Japanese.
