The area around Les Eyzies is also referred to as the Pre-historic Capital of the World due to the numerous pre-historic cave dwellings, with paintings dating 40,000 years ago. Near here is where Cro Magnon man was discovered. The Dordogne is also a favourite area for outdoor activities such as canoeing and walking.
